Steven J. Carpenter, Co-Founder

Steven Carpenter is the Co-Founder and CEO of Covenant Financial Group, where he leads a multi-division firm that integrates wealth management, insurance, and tax strategy into one coordinated financial experience. As the architect behind CFG’s purpose-driven model, Steven is known for helping high-capacity professionals and business owners simplify complex financial decisions, preserve what matters most, and build lasting legacies.

A Michigan native with nearly two decades of experience, Steven holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Walsh College, a master’s in Economics from the University of Detroit Mercy, and an MBA from Michigan State University. Prior to founding CFG, he established DesignWise Financial Group out of a deep commitment to teaching, coaching, and equipping others to make wise financial decisions. He also spent several years teaching economics at the college level, where he refined the clarity and communication style he brings to his client relationships.

Steven leads CFG with a faith-forward, stewardship-minded philosophy—anchored in principle, service, and a long-term view. He and his team specialize in working with professionals, families, and entrepreneurs who want more than fragmented advice. Steven lives in Southeast Michigan with his wife Suzanne and their three children. Together, they are active in their church and community and cherish time spent traveling, serving others, and enjoying the outdoors.
